World Chase Tag® was formed by Christian Devaux in 2012 after a game of Tag with his son in their back garden. A year later, he was joined by his brother, Damien, and together they set about turning the oldest game into the newest sport. From organising casual meet-ups in Hyde Park, within a few years they were hosting international competitions with some of the world’s best Parkour athletes and Ninja Warrior competitors.

The first World Chase Tag competition was held in London in 2017, and since then, the sport has continued to grow in popularity around the world. The annual World Chase Tag Championships now attract some of the top players from around the globe, and the sport has been featured in various media outlets, including television and online video platforms.

As of 2023, World Chase Tag is not currently recognised as an Olympic sport. In order to become an Olympic sport, a sport must first be recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and then it must go through a rigorous evaluation process that can take several years.

While World Chase Tag has not yet been recognised by the IOC, it has gained a significant following and has been featured in various media outlets around the world. As the sport continues to grow in popularity, there is always a possibility that it could be considered for inclusion in future Olympic games.

However, the process of becoming an Olympic sport is highly competitive, and there are many factors that are taken into account, including the sport’s global popularity, the level of international competition, and the level of organisation and governance within the sport. So while it’s certainly possible that World Chase Tag could become an Olympic sport in the future, it’s impossible to predict if or when that might happen.

Chase Tag is a fast-paced, high-intensity sport that requires a combination of speed, agility, and endurance. As such, it engages a wide range of muscles throughout the body. Here are some of the primary muscle groups that are used in Chase Tag:

  1. Lower body: The legs are heavily involved in Chase Tag, as players need to be able to accelerate, decelerate, change direction, and jump quickly and efficiently. The quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calf muscles are all used extensively.
  2. Core: A strong core is essential for maintaining balance, stability, and control during the various movements required in Chase Tag. The abs, obliques, and lower back muscles all play a role in supporting the body and generating power.
  3. Upper body: While the upper body is not as heavily involved in Chase Tag as the lower body, the arms, shoulders, and back are still important for maintaining balance and generating momentum during jumps and other movements.
  4. Cardiovascular system: Chase Tag is a high-intensity sport that requires a lot of cardiovascular endurance. The heart and lungs are both heavily taxed during gameplay, as players need to maintain a high level of activity for extended periods of time.

Overall, Chase Tag is a full-body workout that engages a wide range of muscles and helps to develop strength, speed, endurance, and agility.

There is currently no rule prohibiting or restricting the use of protective equipment. For safer and more enjoyable practice we advise the use of shin guards and knee pads that do not restrict your range of motion.

World Chase Tag offers a Coaching Certification program for individuals who are interested in becoming certified coaches for the sport. The certification program provides coaches with the knowledge and skills needed to develop effective training programs and strategies for their teams.

The World Chase Tag Coaching Certification program consists of two levels of certification:

  1. Level 1 Certification: This level is designed for coaches who are new to World Chase Tag or who will not have access to an official Quad™. The Level 1 certification provides an introduction to the sport and covers the basic rules and techniques of gameplay.
  2. Level 2 Certification: This level is designed for coaches who have some experience coaching World Chase Tag or a related sport. The Level 2 certification builds on the Level 1 program and covers more advanced techniques and strategies for gameplay. It is mandatory for anyone working with an official Quad™.

To obtain a World Chase Tag Coaching Certification, coaches must complete the training program and pass an exam to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. The certification is valid for two years, after which coaches must renew their certification by completing a refresher course and passing a recertification exam.

By offering these coaching credentials, World Chase Tag aims to promote the development of skilled coaches who can help to grow and improve the sport.

World Chase Tag Coaching Certification program has prerequisites for each level of credential.

Level 1 Certification: There are no specific prerequisites for Level 1 certification. However, it is recommended that coaches have some experience in coaching or playing sports and have a basic understanding of World Chase Tag.

Level 2 Certification: To obtain Level 2 certification, coaches must have completed the Level 1 certification program or have equivalent experience.

In addition to these prerequisites, coaches must also pass an exam to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in World Chase Tag. The exam consists of multiple-choice and practical components and is designed to assess the coach’s understanding of the sport and their ability to develop effective training programs and strategies.

By setting these prerequisites, World Chase Tag ensures that coaches have the necessary experience and knowledge to be effective in their roles and to promote the growth and development of the sport.

Once a coach has earned a World Chase Tag Coaching Certification, they must maintain their credential by completing ongoing education and training.

Each certification level is valid for three years, after which coaches must complete a recertification process to maintain their certification. The recertification process includes a refresher course and an exam to assess the coach’s knowledge and skills.

The World Chase Tag Coaching Certification program also requires coaches to participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the sport. Coaches are encouraged to attend coaching clinics, seminars, and conferences to continue their education and improve their skills.

In addition, coaches are required to adhere to a code of conduct that outlines ethical behaviour and professional standards for coaches. The code of conduct emphasises the importance of promoting fair play, respect, and sportsmanship in all aspects of the sport.

By requiring ongoing education and training and adhering to a code of conduct, World Chase Tag ensures that coaches maintain high standards of professionalism and continue to provide effective coaching and leadership for their teams.

We love that licensees hold competitions and would like to do everything we can to encourage such events. When planning your competition, please keep in mind these simple rules:

– Please avoid the use of the World Chase Tag in conjunction with any country’s name or area with >1M inhabitants. It is also forbidden to use the regular naming of official events : WCTnumber (ie. WCT6 in 2023). Last, the “Flight Club” events are only permitted on certain conditions, to be seen with WCTLLC beforehand. The reasoning behind this is to avoid confusion for fans and viewers between official events (giving a national, continental or worlds title) and unofficial ones.

– Run a great event, have fun, and send us photos so we can share your good times with the community.

The Standard and Official License Agreements are the main Licenses for any Gym or Company operating under the WCT® brand. There is one more plan called the Broadcast License Agreement to organise national championships and/or television broadcasting. This contract must be discussed and constructed jointly with WCT LLC.
